Your Top 10 Of All Time

What are your Top 10 Favorite Video Games of all time? I found this actually hard to do, since I told myself I had to be specific, no Warcraft or Zelda series bullshit, you have to name a specific one.

Mine are as follows: (My Order is of no Importance)

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. Metal Gear Solid
3. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
4. Marvel vs. Capcom 2
5. Kingdom Hearts 2
6. Onimusha
7. Devil May Cry 3
8. Ninja Gaiden
9. Final Fantasy VIII
10. Raiden Fighters 2

Like I said, this was hard to determine, so I have to give out some honorable mentions that are just under the cut:

Honorable Mentions:

Lumines, Kirby: Superstar, Jack and Daxter, Final Fantasy XII, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Yoshi's Island, Raiden 2, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Devil May Cry 4, Jet Set Radio Future, Unreal Tournament 2004, Doom, Killer 7, F.E.A.R., Sonic Adventure, God of War II, Zone of Enders: 2nd Runner, The World Ends With You, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Pokemon Blue Version.

Yeah, it was really tough to try and whittle it down. I think I pretty much got it, I may have to think about this for a bit longer.

I feel it is important to distinguish between two categories: Gameplay (games whose story or art content is not their major offering) versus Story/Art (games whose story or artistic quality are at the forefront and whose gameplay, while not necessarily bad, is most likely not good enough if you were to make it into a storyless game like Painkiller). Also, while saying "Zelda Series" or "Warcraft Series" is obviously stupid and invalid, saying "Warcraft 3 + The Frozen Throne" is totally valid and if you disagree with me you don't understand that most expansion packs are a sort of completion of the game, not just additional content. For example, Baldur's Gate is really only an amazing experience when taken in sequentially, including expansion packs, because it is one contiguous story (unlike, say, Zelda).

5. Bioshock [this *IS* System Shock 2 with better graphics but easier and less scary]

9. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
10. Half-Life 2

Best Gameplay-wise (Note: This excludes any game in the first category for obvious reasons)

ive given it alot of though, and ive consulted other peoples "top game" lists. and ive concluded the following

8.Soul Calibur 3
9.Super Smash Brothers: Melee
10.Marvel Vs. Capcom

1 and 2 might be biased. as i play wow alot. and MGS4 just came out and i love it.

Mechwarrior 4 is a solid game by todays standards. and i chose 4 vs. 3 based on the better graphix and story

FFX was the best of them all i think. so i didnt bother listing any others. same goes for Z:OoT

the fighting games were hard to decide, but i feel confident in my choices for 8/9/10

Final Fantasy X? Really, that was your favorite? I guess it was pretty good now that I think about it, but for some reason I have this big attachment to VIII.

I was never a big fan of MechWarrior. I have the second one on Playstation. But I was always more of an Armored Core kind of guy myself.

I was on "That site that shall not be named" earlier and some idiot had the nerve to ask the question: "Which game is better?" Only giving two options, one being Final Fantasy VII, and the other was Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Of course everyone unleashed the motha fuckin' fury and ripped this weeaboo newfag a new asshole, but to think that there are people out there that think that VII is the greatest game ever really frightens me.

i liked armored core too. and it was a hard choice for me, armored core would be on my honorable mention list.

I watched the video essay and the follow up. And i must admit i agree with this man.

I told you already, if I must choose then it's going to be the first list, but the second list is a bunch of storyless games that really deserve a mention regardless.
